New Tricks

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

I wouldn’t know; I have a cat. But this girl is learning a new thing or two.

This is my first blog post. I’m writing this blog as a way to learn something new about communications, a field in which I spent many years building a career. For the last while, I’ve been away from it. I’ve been on a different learning path. A path I didn’t know I would take until that first little baby arrived and my heart and mind were never the same. I’ve been learning what it means to be a parent with all the happy and heartbreak that go along with that role. And, while I haven’t mastered the job by any means, I’ve learned my life could use a little focus elsewhere, too. I’m excited about the prospect of returning to work and I’m learning little by little what it will take to get back there. So I’m back to school. Again.

So what will you find here? A little bit of this and that on all topics related to learning in some way – my personal struggles to learn, say for instance, the difference between a widget and a….. whatsit?; how I see my own children learn; and, how simple lessons can be applied whether you’re 6 or 60.

If you’re new to thinking about learning, I liked “Learning to Learn.” It will get you primed to think about how you yourself approach new challenges. Are you curious, aspiring, vulnerable? Get set to learn.

I try to find the lessons in everyday life. Learning is something we all do everyday, whether we want to or not. Sometimes it comes easily and other times it is a long and painful process. However it happens, it is probably best done with a curious mind and an open heart.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for this inspiring post! As a mom, I do agree that after you old the first baby for the first time, your mind changes forever! Happy learning! 🙂
